    Frequently Asked Questions

As artificial intelligence transforms business operations, leaders face critical challenges around accountability, legal risk, and trust. Explore key insights on navigating the shift from voluntary guidelines to robust, strategic AI governance.

    • Why is AI Governance a boardroom priority rather than an IT task?

AI governance is ultimately about accountability and decision-making. While IT handles the implementation, the Board is responsible for the legal, ethical, and reputational risks. I help leadership understand that when an AI system makes a decision, the liability doesn’t sit with the server—it sits with the organization’s governors.

    • How do you bridge the gap between European AI regulation and African innovation?

Operating across both environments allows me to see the “future” of regulation (like the EU AI Act) and the “future” of innovation (in emerging markets). I help African organizations build frameworks that are globally compliant but locally relevant, ensuring they aren’t just adopting Western models, but actively shaping their own.

    • What role does your Forensic IT background play in AI Risk?

Governance without auditability is just a suggestion. My background in Forensic IT and Data Privacy allows me to look “under the hood” of AI systems to ensure there is a clear trail of accountability. It’s about moving beyond high-level ethics and into the practical mechanics of how an organization proves its AI is behaving as intended.

    • What is the main takeaway from your forthcoming book on AI Governance?

The book is a roadmap for the transition from “voluntary ethics” to “mandatory regulation.” It provides a specific framework for Integrating AI into existing governance and assurance structures, particularly for those in emerging economies who want to lead the next wave of responsible technology.
